About Host Tahoe

I'm Eric. Hospitality has always been the common thread.

I founded Host Tahoe to help great Tahoe homes perform like boutique hotels, and I built Hospitality Intelligence to give hosts the kind of insight I wished I'd had.

My story

Hospitality has always been about more than accommodations. It's about creating experiences that feel effortless, thoughtful and memorable. Whether welcoming vacation guests, preparing a second home for family and friends, or hosting an intimate dinner overlooking Lake Tahoe, exceptional hospitality is built on preparation, attention to detail and genuine care.

For more than 25 years, I've worked in hospitality, from professional kitchens and private events to luxury weddings, vacation homes and hospitality consulting. Along the way, I developed an appreciation for what truly creates exceptional experiences. It's rarely one dramatic gesture. More often, it's dozens of thoughtful details working together behind the scenes.

Over the past decade, I've applied those same principles to vacation homes, building systems that consistently improve guest experiences, strengthen financial performance and simplify ownership. Today, that same philosophy extends to private Tahoe residences, helping homeowners enjoy homes that are thoughtfully prepared and always ready for the people who matter most.

What operating vacation homes taught me

Like a lot of owners, I started from fear: more cameras, more rules, more instructions. Eventually I realized I was making the experience worse for guests without making the property any safer. So I changed. I removed the surveillance mentality, cut unnecessary rules, simplified messaging and made short instructional videos for anything complicated.

Guest contact went down. Reviews went up. The properties performed better. Five-star reviews became normal, properties earned Airbnb's Top 5% and, at times, Top 1% guest-satisfaction distinctions, and Airbnb's private market comparisons began placing them in the top 5%, and sometimes the top 1%, of gross revenue in their markets.

Hospitality and revenue weren't competing goals. Done well, each strengthened the other. I wrote about that shift here.

Why I built Host Tahoe

Host Tahoe was intentionally designed to be different. Rather than building a large company serving hundreds of homes, I chose to build a private hospitality practice centered on trusted relationships, thoughtful strategy and exceptional service.

I work with a limited number of owners so every client receives direct communication, personalized recommendations and the level of attention exceptional homes deserve. For me, hospitality isn't measured by the number of homes I serve. It's measured by how well each one is cared for.

Why I built Hospitality Intelligence

I've used dynamic pricing software for years, and I learned that it's a tool, not a revenue manager. Once everyone has the same automation, the edge comes from intelligence: knowing where a listing actually appears in search, which nights are quietly expiring, whether the problem is the price or the storefront, and what to do next.

So I started building that intelligence for my own Tahoe properties: booking-pace and calendar analysis, Weekly Visibility Snapshots, gap detection and AI-assisted workflows. Hospitality Intelligence is the result: an AI-powered operating system for boutique hosts and property managers, proven on my own portfolio first and now in beta. The technology doesn't replace the operator. It makes the operator better.
